Frequently asked questions
Is the .ics file compatible with all calendar apps?
Yes: the iCalendar RFC 5545 format is supported by Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird, and virtually all modern calendar clients.
Does the ICS file expire?
No: the .ics file is static and contains the encoded event. Once downloaded and imported into a calendar, the event is permanent until the user manually deletes it.
Can I include a conference link (Zoom, Meet)?
Yes: enter the Zoom/Meet link in the "Location" field and also add it to the description. Modern calendar clients recognize and display the link as a video conference.
Does the "Add to calendar" HTML snippet work on all browsers?
The snippet uses a direct link to Google Calendar and an .ics download for others. Compatibility is universal. Paste it on any HTML page of your site.
Can I generate .ics for recurring events?
Currently the generator supports single events. For recurring events (e.g. weekly meetings), you can generate the .ics and manually add the RRULE line in the text file.
Does the ICS format include the organizer?
Yes: by filling in the "Organizer name" and "Organizer email" fields, they are included in the ORGANIZER field of the ICS file for RSVP responses.
