OnStage partners and sponsors: ten years of collaborations

No event happens alone

An association of volunteers does not have the means to do everything by itself. From 2016 to today, many OnStage events were possible because someone outside the association decided to be part of them: a local business, an institution, a venue, an artist who came from far away. This is the story of those collaborations, as far as we know and can document it.

2016: the town behind the first Summerclash

The first edition of Salento Summerclash, on 29 July 2016, was a reggae soundclash with four sound systems (Into The Groove, Lumera, One Drop Fellas, Serious Thing) and free entry. It was made possible by around 160 local sponsors.

It was the first sign of something that still holds today: the association was born for the young people of Botrugno, but many other local realities move around its events.

The guest artists of Summerclash

In the following years Summerclash widened its borders thanks to its guests:

- 2017, "Mès que un clash", with Jemani Jahka and Banpay Crew;
- 2018, "Killing Time", an international edition with sounds from Poland, Switzerland and Italy;
- 2019, "Break down the limits!", with the Japanese sound Jah Works against the Swedish Safari Sound.

The cinema and the Municipality

With Giovedì Ciak the association brought art-house cinema to the Cinema Aurora in Botrugno, with weekly screenings (the second edition in 2018, the third in 2019). The series widened the OnStage audience to people who would otherwise never have come into contact with the association.

On 5 May 2018 the first edition of RestArt - Suburban StreetArt Fest, with Gino Palma's mural on the steps of via XX Settembre, took place under the patronage of the Municipality of Botrugno.

The Urban Connection venues

After the pandemic, in autumn 2021, the new crew started again with Urban Connection: a reggae and hip hop DJ night every Friday, in collaboration with local venues. These were small, low-cost events, designed to help the newest members grow.

2026: the first national funding calls

In 2026 the association submitted its first applications to national funding calls to support its projects, together with a proposal for a winter programme at its venue, with a weekly calendar of events from November to March.
