Salento Block Battle 2024: the second edition, on 16 August in Botrugno

The second year

Salento Block Battle is the freestyle contest that OnStage first brought to Botrugno in 2023. On 16 August 2024 the format came back for its second edition.

A second edition is the moment when an event stops being an experiment. The first year can run on enthusiasm; the second shows there is a group able to do it again. For the association it was an important step: Salento Block Battle was born in the years of the restart, after the generational change that during the pandemic brought into OnStage new young people already active in local hip hop events.

The context

2024 came in the middle of a restart that began in autumn 2021, with the Urban Connection nights, and continued on 18 June 2022 with Restart, the second edition of RestArt in via XX Settembre. Salento Block Battle is the format the association added to that path, entirely dedicated to freestyle.

After 2024

Salento Block Battle returned with its third edition in 2025 and its fourth on 12 August 2026 in Botrugno, managed for the first time with an app dedicated to food and drink orders.

How the format was born is told in [Salento Block Battle: the first edition and the road that led to it](/blog/block-battle-la-prima-edizione-raccontata-dai-protagonisti). For upcoming dates, see the [events](/eventi) page.
